Take and return assets

This page covers what an employee does to take and return assets on their own.

  1. Open Dashboard and click Take for myself in the My assets widget. Or click CheckIn/CheckOut in the left menu and then Take for myself.
  2. On the Take assets for myself page, find the asset:
    • pick the Location you’re taking it from — the list then shows only that location’s assets;
    • and/or type a name, AssetID, serial number, or model in the search box;
    • or click Scan and point the camera at the asset’s QR code.
  3. Select the assets you need. “(Selected: N of M)” appears above the table.
  4. If the form shows a warning — for example, “Open defects on …” — read it. If the warning forbids taking the asset, the Take for myself button is unavailable.
  5. If needed, set a Planned return date and add Notes — for example, the job you’re taking it for.
  6. Click Take for myself.

The Take assets for myself page: the Take for myself | Return switch, the Scan button, the search box and the location filter set to Austin Warehouse, a table of assets with the AssetID, Asset type, Vendor/Model, Name, and Location columns, and below it the Planned return date and Notes fields with the Cancel and Take for myself buttons

The same page with the 8 ft stepladder selected: “(Selected: 1 of 5)” above the table and the yellow warning “Open defects on Werner 8 ft Fiberglass Stepladder: Side rails straight, no cracks, splits, dents or bends”; the Take for myself button is available

After saving, you’ll see “Document No. … created,” and the asset is now checked out to you — it shows up in the My assets widget.

  1. Open Dashboard and click Return in the My assets widget. Or open CheckIn/CheckOut and click Return.
  2. On the Return my assets page, select the assets you’re returning. The list has only what’s checked out to you.
  3. If the table has a Condition column, choose the condition of each selected asset in the Select asset condition field. If the column has an asterisk, the condition is required.
  4. In Return to location, choose where the asset goes back to.
  5. Add Notes if needed.
  6. Click Return.

The Return my assets page: the yellow hint “Choose the condition of every asset you return.”, the selected rotary hammer with the Select asset condition field in the Condition column (marked with an asterisk), the Return to location and Notes fields, and the Cancel and Return buttons

The Return button stays unavailable until a location is chosen and, if required, the condition of each asset.

Both pages have a Scan button. Point your computer’s or phone’s camera at the asset’s QR code and the asset gets selected in the list. If you can’t take or return it, the scanner tells you why: “This asset is already checked out to you.”, “This asset is not checked out to you.”, “This asset cannot be taken right now.”, or “No asset was found for this code.”

  1. Click CheckIn/CheckOut in the left menu. The page is titled My transfers — it shows only documents where you’re the target or the source.
  2. Click a row to open the document.

An employee’s My transfers page: the Take for myself and Return buttons, a table of documents with the Check Out and Check In tags and the Self-service tag, and the Doc number, Date, Operation type, Movement, Planned return date, Number of assets, and Author columns

The document card Check-Out No. TR-4 of 10/22/2026: the Check Out and Self-service tags, source Austin Warehouse, target Tyler Nguyen, the planned return date, notes, and the table of the document’s assets
